FAQ

Questions, answered.

The things Anchorage customers ask us most. Don't see yours? Call (907) 644-0307 — we're happy to help.

How do you charge for a move?

We bill by the hour, not by the pound. You get a clear hourly rate up front, and you only pay for the time the move actually takes. No mystery weight tickets and no vague flat number that creeps upward on move day.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. Call us or fill out the quote form with your dates, locations, and home size and we'll give you a straight estimate at no cost and no obligation.

Can you handle a last-minute or short-notice move?

Often, yes. We work hard to fit in same-week and short-notice moves — including around holidays — when other companies turn them away. Call us and we'll tell you honestly what we can do.

Do you move long-distance or out of Alaska?

We do. Alaska moves have their own challenges — distance, weather, and routing by highway or barge. We've been doing this since 2009, so we plan your long-distance move around how things actually work up here.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, Superman Moving & Storage is fully licensed and insured. We're also clear and fair about our claims process — see our Claims & Insurance page for exactly how coverage and claims work.

Do you provide packing materials and services?

Yes. We offer full-service and partial packing using professional-grade boxes, paper, and wrap. We can pack the whole home or just the fragile and valuable items — your call.

Do you offer storage?

We have clean, heated, climate-controlled storage for short or long term. It's ideal when your move-out and move-in dates don't line up. Because we move and store with the same crew, your things are handled with care the whole way.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Anchorage and serve the surrounding area, the Mat-Su Valley, Fairbanks, and the Kenai Peninsula for local moves, plus long-distance moves across Alaska and out of state.

Do you use your own trucks and drivers, or a third party?

Our own. Long-distance moves are handled on company-owned trucks by our own drivers — your belongings aren't sold off to the cheapest carrier of the day. (Local off-loading at your destination is handled by trusted partners, and that cost is included in your estimate.)

How long does a long-distance move take?

Once your goods leave Anchorage, plan on roughly 3–4 days through Canada, plus another 2–4 days if you're headed to the Southwest. Federal limits on driver hours affect timing, and we'll typically give you about a day's notice before delivery.

How many times will my items be handled?

On a long-distance move, your items are handled twice: picked up and loaded at your home, then transferred to the long-haul trailer. Fewer touches than most — and the same care every time.

Will you set things up at my new place?

Yes. We don't just drop boxes at the door — we place furniture and items in the right rooms so you can settle in, not sort through a pile in the garage.

Do you ship cars?

Yes, we can arrange vehicle transport as part of your move. Mention it when you request your quote so we can include it.

Are your quotes binding?

Phone and online estimates are generally non-binding ballparks based on what you tell us. For a firm, binding quote we'll do an in-person or virtual survey of your home. Either way, we're upfront about what drives the price.

Are there extra charges I should know about?

We'll flag anything that affects the price up front — things like pianos and safes, long carries from the truck to the door, tight parking or stairs, and bulky or awkward items. No surprises on move day.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards as well as other common payment methods — we're not a cash-only operation. We'll confirm the details when you book.
